Hiro Ishida is a character that appears in Season 1 and 2 of Dark Matter.

Biography[]

Hiro is the youngest Ishida prince and half-brother of Ryo. Hiro and Ryo were close as children and would do activities such as walking along the beach and sparring.

Hiro's mother, Ryo's stepmother, connived to drive a wedge between them (among other things) by forging a document indicating that Ryo as the heir to the throne was forcing Hiro off the planet.

In Episode Eight, Ryo contacted Hiro, requesting that he meet him on an independent planet.

In Episode Nine, Hiro got upset at his mother for sending Akita in his place as he had promised Ryo it would be him. His mother tried to soothe his anger by telling him she had just made him an Emperor.

In Episode Twenty-Five, Ryo and the Raza ambushed Hiro's personal ship using the Blink Drive, in order for the two to meet. After being confronted with the information that his mother killed their father, Hiro returned to Zairon and confronted the Empress, then informed Ryo that he would make a public proclamation abdicating the throne. However, before he could do so, he was placed under house arrest under the guise of protective custody after an assassination attempt.

Das freed Hiro from the room he was held in, allowing him to enter the throne room and save the Raza crew, who were about to be executed. After abdicating the throne, he was killed alongside his mother and the Seers to secure Ryo's claim to the throne.
