Summary[]

The crew of the Raza targets an Ishida research station in an attempt to take back the Blink Drive.[1]

Plot[]

The crew of the Raza sans Five and The Android embark on a mission to raid the Ishida Research Station where Emperor Ryo Tetsuda's scientists Borsa and Hajek are examining the stolen blink drive. After the crew breach the station's defenses, the Emperor himself arrives on the station in a clone body and orders the scientists to use the blink drive to take the station to Zairon. However, the station disappears into a pocket of null space.

Meanwhile aboard the Raza, Five uses the mind probe to relive past memories but loses consciousness in the process. In her first flashback, Five experiences Ryo Tetsuda's memory of his father Ishida Tetsuya's efforts to build the Ishida Research Station. In her second flashback, she remembers a kind mechanic named Baines offering her a job after discovering her mechanical talents.

While dealing with these past memories, Five attempts to help the Android locate the other Raza crew, who have disappeared with the Ishida research station into a pocket of null space. Ryo's clone is killed during the fighting, preventing him from transferring his memories back to Ryo. Borsa agrees to work with the crew in order to return to realspace. However, he is murdered by Hajek who is still loyal to the Emperor. The Raza crew manage to regain control of the blink drive and escape null space.

In her third flashback, a fellow pickpocket tells Five that Baines can't be trusted due to his dealings with the Galactic Authority and invites her to leave with the rest of the crew for a tourist location. The Android later brings her to the medical bay and revives her, diagnosing her with cascading synaptic failure.

After the rest of the Raza crew return with the blink drive , the Android uses a procedure to revive Five. However, this operation inadvertently interrupts her fourth flashback where Five learns from Vanes that she had an older sister who was adopted while she was still a baby. While upset, Five is relieved to learn that she has a relative in the galaxy.
